Pledge Support for the Essentials Drive

HomeAid Georgia invites companies and individuals to support moms and babies in honor of Mother’s Day.

HomeAid Georgia invites you to host an Essentials Drive drop-off site at your place of business (open to the public), or coordinate a drive with friends and coworkers at your office, church, school, or civic organization.

Atlanta – March 3, 2025  HomeAid Georgia’s 24th Annual Essentials Drive will run April 1-30, in honor of Mother’s Day, delivering essential baby items to families in need. Companies and organizations are invited to sign up to collect diapers and baby wipes or host an Essentials Drive donation drop-off site throughout the month of April.

HomeAid Georgia and its building industry volunteers build and renovate housing and facilities for nonprofit organizations that serve people experiencing or at risk of homelessness. Many of these organizations serve families with very young children. Sadly, an estimated 12,294 people in Georgia experience homelessness on any given night and almost 37% are women and children. HomeAid recognizes how challenging it can be for families and individuals to provide for their most basic needs during times of crisis and transition.

According the National Diaper Bank Network, an average monthly supply of diapers costs $80 to more than $100. The only federal assistance program that can be used for diapers is TANF, which also covers many other expenses, including electric and water bills, rent, clothing, transportation, and other basic needs. Little if any money is available to purchase enough diapers to keep a baby clean, dry, and healthy. Babies can go through 8-12 diapers a day, and families experiencing homelessness or economic hardship may have to improvise to make diapers last longer by changing diapers less often or even attempt to clean and reuse disposable diapers.

Thanks to the support of metro Atlanta’s home building industry and generous community members, the Essentials Drive has collected more than 2.3 million baby items, assisting countless families since 2002. HomeAid Georgia invites you to host an Essentials Drive drop-off site at your place of business (open to the public), or coordinate a drive with friends and coworkers at your office, church, school, or civic organization.
