Our Impact

Community Engagement

In addition to our building and remodeling projects, HomeAid reaches out to meet the immediate needs of Georgia families and individuals experiencing homelessness and the organizations that assist them. Every year we complete several HomeAid Care Days, HomeAid CareKits, and the HomeAid Essentials Drive.

HomeAid Care Days

HomeAid Care Days are hands-on volunteer workdays during which minor repairs and upgrades are made at homeless shelters and homeless service facilities. Tasks like painting, landscaping, cleaning, and small construction projects are done at no charge based on each organization’s need.  Since 2001, HomeAid has completed over 100 HomeAid Care Days (and counting), resulting in a savings of more than $1 million to service providers.

Nonprofits, apply for a Care Day at your facility! Fill out the Care Day application to be considered as a site for a one or two day event.

HomeAid Essentials Drive

Our yearly drive to collect “essential” baby items in great need by families with young children experiencing homelessness.  Since 2001, HomeAid has collected over 2.4 million baby items and distributed them to more than 30 local nonprofit organizations serving the metro Atlanta area.  Businesses, community organizations, and individuals are invited to participate in the Essentials Drive by hosting a collection site or donating items like diapers and baby wipes. Click here for the 2024 Essentials Drive!

HomeAid CareKits

In 2014, HomeAid began its CareKits initiative. CareKits are hygiene kits packed by volunteers and donated to local providers of homeless services. Since 2014, HomeAid has assembled and donated over 19,000 CareKits in partnership with Bank of America, a national sponsor of HomeAid. Learn more.

“Stock The House” Campaign

Since 2014, over $555,000 worth of household items have been collected through the Stock the House campaign. These items, including everything from bedding to small appliances to washcloths, provide a warm welcome to families and individuals moving into HomeAid-built facilities.
