Why the Essentials Drive?
HomeAid recognizes how challenging it can be for families and individuals to provide for their most basic needs during times of crisis and transition. Babies can go through 8-12 diapers a day, and families experiencing homelessness or economic hardship may have to improvise to make diapers last longer, changing diapers less often, or even attempt to clean and reuse disposable diapers. Thanks to the support of the Georgia home building industry and generous community members, the Essentials Drive has collected more than 2.3 million baby items, assisting countless families since 2002. All donated items will be delivered to HomeAid Georgia’s service provider partners serving families with infants and toddlers experiencing or at risk of homelessness - just in time for Mother’s Day.

Why the Essentials Drive?
“HomeAid’s donation of diapers and wipes has been critical for the many moms that we serve. We partner with a school for children experiencing homelessness, and many of the mothers have younger children in diapers. Most live in shelters or hotels and have little access to these resources. Those with income have difficulty covering all their expenses, so any free essential can mean the difference between choosing to buy diapers or see a doctor. Others have no income and often have to leave infants in dirty diapers as long as possible to make them last.”

"It was like Christmas morning! The timing was perfect for this donation. We were out of Pull Ups and size 6 diapers and had several requests for them. The Essentials Drive donations allowed us to fill those requests. We were very low on wipes as well, so again perfect timing.
