Celebrating Jasmine House

Atlanta – December 15, 2021 – HomeAid Atlanta volunteers and supporters gathered at North Georgia Angel House (NGAH) on December 10 to celebrate the completion of five new tiny apartments, now known as Jasmine House. Located in Canton, NGAH provides shelter, food, life skills, and many other services to girls and young women in, and aging out of, foster care. Construction on Jasmine House began in spring of 2021. The project transformed a metal storage building on the NGAH campus into five 300 sq. ft. apartments for young women transitioning out the foster care system who are not yet ready for independent living. Ronnie Cline of Taylor Morrison and Austin Lineberry of New River Building Company generously donated their time and expertise to lead construction.

Speaking at the December 10 ribbon cutting and dedication event, Austin Lineberry said of his work on the Jasmine House project, “Whenever we reached out to our trade partners for donations, they were excited to get involved and donated gladly. This speaks volumes about HomeAid.”  Lineberry, a custom home builder, added many special touches to this project. He even came up with the name for the new building. “Jasmine means sweet love, amiability, grace, elegance, the basis of Jesus. I hope that these young women will take those things with them into the world after NGAH.”

“Ronnie’s heart is huge,” Lineberry said of his project partner Ronnie Cline. Cline, who was honored at the event with a proclamation by the Georgia House of Representatives, said, “This unique transformation was a lot of fun. The work of North Georgia Angel House is inspiring. We got to be heroes for a minute, but HomeAid gets to do this every day and Taylor Morrison enjoys our partnership with HomeAid.”

The completion of Jasmine House marks HomeAid Atlanta’s fourth renovation project at NGAH. Since 2019, not including the donations for the current project, HomeAid and its partners have provided a savings of approximately $200,000 on construction costs for NGAH. At the December 10 ribbon cutting and dedication event, NGAH Executive Director Susan Worsley remarked, “HomeAid is like our family.”

“The HomeAid model worked beautifully with this project. Ronnie and Austin perfectly choreographed all the moving parts, while inspiring their building industry colleagues to support young women in need.  NGAH provides imperative services to girls in the foster system, and we are honored to connect talent and materials for the sake of creating a better chance for their success,” said Jean Hilyard, HomeAid Atlanta Director of Project Development.

HomeAid Atlanta is a nonprofit organization founded in 2001, with a mission to help people experiencing or at risk of homelessness build new lives through construction, community engagement, and education. HomeAid builds, renovates, and maintains facilities for nonprofits serving people experiencing homelessness. Celebrating its 20th year of service in 2021, HomeAid has completed over 150 construction projects at locations for victims of domestic violence, teen mothers, veterans and more, utilizing connections with building industry professionals and community organizations.
