Bank of America Packs 1,000 CareKits

Atlanta – September  11, 2024 – For ten years, Bank of America has partnered with nonprofit HomeAid Atlanta to pack HomeAid CareKits for people experiencing homelessness. CareKits are hygiene kits containing items such as toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorant, socks, and more. On Thursday, August 29, Bank of America employees in Kennesaw packed 1,000 HomeAid CareKits.

While there are existing programs to help provide food for people in need, there is no public safety net program aiding with the essential hygiene items found in CareKits. Without partners like Bank of America to help HomeAid provide CareKits, many people experiencing homelessness in metro Atlanta would not have these everyday items.

The CareKits packed on August 29 were provided to Crossroads Community Ministries and St. Vincent de Paul Georgia to distribute. These organizations provide access to resources that foster personal and economic stability and self-sufficiency. Monday through Friday, Crossroads Community Ministries serves those experiencing homelessness, helping more than 6,000 individuals annually through programs including Clyde’s Kitchen, The Renewal Project, and the Door-to-Door Housing Program. St. Vincent de Paul Georgia helped over 191,000 people on the road to self-sufficiency with their hunger, health, and housing needs in 2023.

“St. Vincent de Paul of Georgia received a large donation of HomeAid CareKits, and they have been incredibly useful for our neighbors in need. Whether you are homeless or a family that is struggling to get by, these are items that everyone needs. We are so grateful for this generous gift to those we serve,” said Adam Seely, St. Vincent de Paul Hunger Initiatives Program Director.

Because of Bank of America’s support, HomeAid Atlanta has packed more than 19,000 HomeAid CareKits since 2014. Included in that number is 8,400 CareKits packed by metro Atlanta Bank of America employees over the years. The CareKits program was established nationally by HomeAid in partnership with Bank of America in 2013.
