David Weekley Homes Joins HomeAid Care Day
Building industry volunteers join impactful workday at Trinity Community Ministries
Atlanta – June 25, 2024 – David Weekley Homes employees joined building industry nonprofit HomeAid Atlanta for a Care Day on May 17 at Trinity Community Ministries. Each year, HomeAid completes ten or more Care Days, hands-on volunteer workdays, free-of-charge for nonprofits providing housing and services for people experiencing or at risk of homelessness. Trinity Community Ministries’ mission is helping homeless men reclaim their lives and return to their families and communities as mentors and leaders.
The group of 40 hardworking David Weekley Homes employees completed many needed tasks including painting multiple client rooms, personal cubby spaces and a laundry room with help from Weaver Grading, hanging mirrors, installing new carpet, and assembling and installing ten ceiling fans. A team from Elite Flooring installed carpet in 11 resident rooms, the chapel, and the intake room, as well as completing shower demolition and rebuild. Elite Flooring donated all tile and carpet for the project.
“I really appreciate the hard work you’ve done, how you’ve refurbished everything; it feels more like a home now,” said one Trinity Community Ministries resident upon seeing the results of the Care Day.
Work continued during the week of May 20, with volunteers rebuilding a shower and installing new blinds and new air vents. The David Weekley CARES program provided a $10,000 grant to fund this Care Day. In addition to the companies mentioned above, the following provided discounts and donations on materials and more:

Altogether, the work of volunteers and the generous donations of funds and materials provided a savings of nearly $30,000 on this project.
This was David Weekley Homes’ fourth HomeAid Care Day since 2019.
HomeAid Atlanta is a nonprofit organization founded in 2001, with a mission to help people experiencing or at risk of homelessness build new lives through construction, community engagement, and education. HomeAid builds, renovates, and maintains facilities for nonprofits serving people experiencing homelessness. HomeAid has completed over 180 construction projects at locations for victims of domestic violence, teen mothers, veterans and more, utilizing connections with building industry professionals and community organizations. HomeAid also provides essential items like diapers, wipes, and hygiene products to those affected by homelessness. HomeAid is the designated charity of the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association.
