Atlanta – December 13, 2022 – Building industry nonprofit HomeAid Atlanta announced its 2022 Award Winners on December 8 at the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association’s Annual Holiday Party and Silent Auction, hosted by the Atlanta Sales and Marketing Council.
2022 Volunteer of the Year – David Weekley Homes
David Weekley Homes participated in every aspect of HomeAid Atlanta’s mission in 2022. They participated in a HomeAid Care Day, a volunteer workday, at Atlanta Children’s Shelter, contributed $8,000 to assist with a construction project at Crossroads Community Ministries for HomeAid’s larger construction efforts, and donated clothing and household items to HomeAid partners Covenant House, The Drake House, and SafeHouse Outreach through HomeAid’s Stock the House Drive. Additionally, they collected 182 turkeys, 1,065 Canned Goods and 1,702 boxed food items that went to Crossroads Community Ministries, Cherokee County Homeless Veterans Program, and the Vine City Civic Association.
2022 Trade Partner of the Year- BLUR Workshop
HomeAid Atlanta’s Trade Partner of the Year is an award for incredible perseverance and commitment this year. BLUR Workshop architects signed on to help HomeAid with a remodeling project over a year and a half ago. Little did they know, the arduous permitting process would take much longer than anticipated. They stuck with HomeAid through it all—the project being reclassified from residential to a light commercial, delays due to staff vacancies at the municipality, and more. BLUR Workshop even brought in a codes specialist to be sure that everything was documented exactly right on the plans. They are also helping HomeAid secure donations of building materials to finally get this project started.
“Construction projects are complicated and require so much expertise and collaboration. We would not be able to get any of our work done without amazing partners like out 2022 award winners, David Weekley Homes and BLUR Workshop. Their time, expertise and generosity are why we are able move forward with our mission to build a future without homelessness! We couldn’t be more proud and grateful for their help,” said Mandy Crater, HomeAid Atlanta Executive Director.
